In this piece, the clock without hands, represents the timeless struggle between predator and prey. We know, from the natural world, that sometimes this struggle is victorious and sometimes it is not. We know, too, that the struggle between predator and prey has existed in human circles for centuries and centuries.
This piece grew out of my dismay with the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The clock is a small brooch that belonged to my mother. At one time the clock had hands, but these had long ago fallen off. I kept the little clock, as a personal reminder of the deep and grievous injustices that many innocents suffer, as they journey through a world where power often has the greater voice...
