Giclee ( zhee.klay) comes from the French word meaning, "to spray." In today's print world, a giclee is made by spraying ink on canvas, watercolor paper or photo like paper. These papers come in a variety of types and sizes. Giclee prints, other than those available through Fine Art America, can be ordered directly from the artist for certain images in Wild Places, People and Holiday Cards.
Giclees, from the GAIA site, are printed on Hahnemuehle canvas, which is 100% cotton and acid- free. They are light fast for decades, depending on display area, type of glass cover and humidity. Hahnemuehle has been making paper since 1574. Texts associated with a particular image are included in the giclee order, but are printed on a separate paper.
Prices for giclee prints ordered directly from the artist vary from
$30.00 for 8" x 10" to $70.00 for 18" x 24"
Please allow 14 to 21 days to complete a giclee order.
